Apaches Improve to 2-0 with Win over SWCC

Tyler, TEXAS- Tyler Junior College's men's basketball team defeated Southwestern Christian College 84-76 to improve to 2-0.

Tyler took a 16-14 lead with 12 minutes to go in the first half and was able to stretch that lead to 42-33 heading into halftime.

In the second half, SWCC went on a run and hit a momentum-changing three-pointer with 7:36 remaining in regulation to give them a 61-60 lead.

On the next possession, guard Zander Frazier was fouled and sank two free throws, giving TJC a 62-61 lead with 6:56 remaining. TJC wouldn't lose their lead again and closed the game with a 24-15 run to secure their second home victory.

The starting lineup for Tyler accounted for 70 of the team's 84 points in their victory. Freshman guard Zander Frazier led the way with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists. Fellow freshmen guards Chris Uwayo Jr. and Caden Bell each contributed 15 points, while sophomore guard Joey Brown added 14 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Freshman forward Josiah Hill controlled the glass snatching down 11 rebounds to lead the team.

Tyler's next game is scheduled for Nov. 8 at 4:30 p.m., when they will travel to Ottumwa, Iowa, to face Sauk Valley Community College.

The Apache's next home game will be on Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. as they host Dallas College Cedar Valley.
