Tyler Junior College secured a thrilling win over Blinn College on Tuesday, Oct. 28. Advancing to the quarterfinals of the Region XIV Tournament. After a 1-1 tie in regulation and overtime, the Apaches prevailed 4-2 in a penalty kick shootout.
Cynthia Adamu gave TJC the lead in the 69th minute with an assist from Gabi Hislop, and Blinn College equalized late in the 89th minute through Chloey Mejia. Goalkeeper Marieke Pohl made key saves during the match and stood strong in the shootout to help secure the victory.
TJC outshot Blinn 18-8 and controlled play with four corner kicks compared to Blinn's one.
