Kilgore College defeated Tyler Junior College 80–70 in the semifinals of the Region XIV Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday in Baytown, Texas.
Kilgore led 14–12 after the first quarter and extended the margin to 38–31 at halftime. The Rangers outscored Tyler 21–17 in the third quarter to build a double-digit lead before both teams scored 22 points in the fourth.
Monica Bottley led Tyler with 28 points, making five 3-pointers. Kennedi Johnson added 24 points and 11 rebounds, finishing 9-of-12 from the free-throw line. Trinity Davis recorded five points and seven rebounds, while Aaliyah Campbell added six points.
Tyler shot 30.3 percent from the field (23 of 76) and 26.9 percent from 3-point range (7 of 26) while converting 17 of 22 free throws.
Ja'Sani Green led Kilgore with 17 points. Madison Bob and Brooklyn King each scored 15 points, while Kira Johnson added 14 points and nine rebounds.
Kilgore shot 46.2 percent from the field (30 of 65) and held a 49–35 rebounding advantage.
With the loss, Tyler was eliminated from the Region XIV tournament. They end their season with a 21-10 record, finishing 9-5 in conference play.
