Apaches Roll at Home Against Coastal Bend

TYLER, Texas — The Tyler Junior College Women's Basketball team defeated Coastal Bend College, 86-51, on Wednesday at Wagstaff Gym.

The Apaches improved to 16-7 on the year and 5-3 in conference play. 

TJC led 21-10 after the first quarter and extended the margin to 47-19 at halftime. The Apaches scored 26 points in both the second and third quarters and led 73-33 entering the fourth.

Taler Thornton recorded 21 points and 15 rebounds with five assists. Monica Bottley finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Siara Bracey added 15 points and eight rebounds, and Savanna Barnes scored 15 points off the bench. Trinity Davis totaled nine points and 10 rebounds.

As a team, TJC shot 32-of-79 (40.5 percent) from the field, 7-of-21 from three-point range, and 15-of-19 from the free throw line. The Apaches outrebounded Coastal Bend 59-0 and recorded 24 offensive rebounds. TJC finished with 13 assists, 11 turnovers, six blocks, and seven steals.
