Tyler, TX – A hard-fought battle ended in a narrow loss for the Apaches as they came up just short against the Rangers in a nail-biting game. The Apaches started strong, holding an 18-13 lead over the Rangers early on, and outscored them 13-12 in the second quarter to take a 31-25 lead into halftime.
However, the tide turned in the third quarter as the Apaches struggled offensively, scoring just 15 points compared to the Rangers' 29. A major contributor to the Rangers' success was Madison Bob, who finished with 28 points—well above her season average of 18.4 points per game, and second in Region XIV for points this season.
Heading into the fourth quarter, the Apaches were down 46-54 but kept the pressure on. They rallied back with 21 points in the final period, outscoring the Rangers by 4, but couldn't bridge the gap in the final seconds. The crowd erupted when a last-second three-pointer brought the Apaches within two, but they ultimately ran out of time. The energy in the gym was palpable, with fans on the edge of their seats throughout the game. The excitement was amplified by the TJC Pep Band, Cheerleaders, Belles, and DJ Juice, all contributing to an electric atmosphere that kept the team and fans alike energized until the final buzzer.
Key players for the Apaches included reserve Brandy Jones, who finished with 15 points, Kyra Anderson, who recorded another double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Monica Bottley, who added 10 points.
The Apaches will be back on their home court this weekend, taking on Blinn College Saturday at 2 p.m.
