GAME ONE:

TYLER, Texas — Tyler Junior College scored three runs in the first inning and defeated Northeastern Junior College 7-1 in the opening game of a doubleheader Monday..

Lindsey McKnight went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Tyler. Mallory Kniffen drove in a run, and Ileana Hernandez added two RBIs. Katherine Golden finished 2 for 3 with an RBI. Bethany Fan doubled as part of a two-hit performance.

Allison Burkhalter earned the win, allowing three hits over five scoreless innings with four strikeouts and two walks. Cayman Lightner pitched the final two innings, allowing one run on two hits.

Northeastern (1 run, 8 hits) broke through in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Addison Steele. Kelsi Jurczewsky went 2 for 4 and scored the lone run. Steele added two hits, and T-Nyla Curnutt and Marisa Reyes each recorded a hit.

Brooklyn McNeil took the loss for Northeastern, allowing seven runs — two earned — on seven hits over six innings with three strikeouts and one walk.

Northeastern committed six errors. Tyler had one.

GAME TWO:

TYLER, Texas — Tyler Junior College scored seven runs in the third inning and defeated Northeastern Junior College 13-5 on Monday.

Tyler (13 runs, 11 hits) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning before breaking the game open in the third. The Apaches added three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Northeastern (5 runs, 8 hits) scored one run through the first three innings before plating four in the fourth.

For Tyler, Lindsey McKnight went 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a walk. Mallory Kniffen finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Bethany Fan tripled and scored twice. Hannah Perales drove in two runs and scored twice, and Brooklyn Foster added three RBIs.

Jaycee Bullard earned the win for Tyler, allowing one run on four hits over four innings with three strikeouts. Carlie Hrncir worked one inning in relief.

Marisa Reyes took the loss for Northeastern, allowing nine runs — five earned — on three hits and five walks in 2 1/3 innings. Maddie Cline pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief.

Brodie Wilcoxen led Northeastern at the plate, going 2 for 3 with an RBI. Reina Roberts drove in two runs. Madison Birt doubled and scored once.
