Apaches Split Doubleheader with Bossier Parish

Bossier City, LA- TJC and Bossier Parish traded blows on Saturday afternoon, each walking away with a win in a hard-fought doubleheader played in Bossier City, Louisiana. The Apaches dominated the opener with a commanding 10-1 win, but the Cavaliers bounced back in Game 2 to edge Tyler 3-2 in a tightly contested finale.

Game 1: Offensive Explosion Propels TJC Past Bossier Parish

Tyler Junior College used a late offensive surge to run away with the first game, scoring eight runs in the fifth inning to seal a 10-1 run-rule victory.

The Apaches collected 14 hits in the contest, including four home runs. Catcher Sydney Farmer led the charge, going 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Chloe Payne added a pair of doubles and a two-run homer, while Daniela Gutierrez and Payton Bray also went deep for Tyler.

Pitcher Kearston Gooch earned the win in the circle, tossing a complete game and limiting the Cavaliers to just one run on four hits over five innings. Gooch struck out two and walked three.

Tyler's defense played error-free ball and turned a double play, complementing Gooch's strong outing and helping the Apaches cruise to a lopsided win.

Game 2: Cavaliers Hold Off Apaches in Late-Inning Thriller

The second game saw a reversal of fortunes as Bossier Parish took an early lead and managed to hold off a late Tyler rally to earn a 3-2 victory.

The Cavaliers struck for two runs in the first inning and added a key insurance run in the fifth. Tyler was held hitless through the first six innings but rallied in the seventh, scoring two runs on RBI groundouts from Jolie Bazan and Ky-Li Alonzo. The Apaches had the tying run on base, but Bossier Parish shut the door to secure the split.

Sarah Philips was strong in the loss for Tyler, going six innings while allowing just one earned run on five hits. She struck out six and walked one in a tough-luck performance.

Offensively, the Apaches managed just two hits in the contest. Payton Bray reached base twice and swiped a bag, while Alinna Cruz and Daniela Gutierrez each crossed the plate in the seventh.
