Softball Splits Doubleheader with TVCC

Tyler, TX- The TJC Apaches played a tough doubleheader against Trinity Valley Community College this weekend at home. After a dominant 3-2 win in Game 1, the Apaches fought hard in Game 2 but ultimately fell short in a 7-6 loss, leaving them with a split for the day.


Game 1: TJC 3, Trinity Valley 2

The Apaches came out on top in the first game, securing a 3-2 win thanks to a strong performance from their pitching staff and some key hits at the plate. TJC jumped to an early lead in the first inning, scoring two runs, and managed to hold onto the advantage throughout the game.

Sydney Farmer led the offense, driving in two key runs with a double in the seventh inning to extend TJC's lead. On the mound, Kearston Gooch delivered an impressive performance, tossing a complete game while allowing just two earned runs and striking out two batters to earn her first win of the season.

Game 2: Trinity Valley 7, TJC 6

Game 2 saw the Apaches battling back after a tough start, but they couldn't quite close the gap, losing 7-6 to Trinity Valley. Despite an explosive five-run fourth inning that gave TJC a 5-4 lead, Trinity Valley answered with runs in the fifth and sixth innings to reclaim the lead.

The Apaches rallied late, scoring in the seventh, but fell short in the final inning. Piper Morton played a crucial role with two RBIs, and Sydney Farmer stayed hot at the plate with four hits in the game. Despite the offensive effort, TJC couldn't overcome Trinity Valley's scoring in the late innings.

Pitching Highlights: Sarah Philips started the game for TJC, allowing four runs over 4 innings, while Jaycee Bullard pitched in relief, giving up one run in 1.1 innings. Kearston Gooch also saw action but couldn't keep the Eagles at bay as Trinity Valley took control in the latter innings.
