Softball Dominates Series Against Ranger

Apache softball delivered a dominant series sweep over Ranger College, showcasing their offensive power, solid defense, and pitching depth. 

Game 1: Offensive Power on Full Display

In Game 1, TJC unleashed a relentless offensive attack, racking up 15 runs on 17 hits to cruise to an easy victory. The Apaches' offense was in high gear from the start, with key contributions from nearly every member of the lineup.

Jolie Bazan was a standout, going 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs, including two doubles. Her speed on the base paths and clutch hitting put pressure on Ranger College from the start. Ky-Li Alonzo was equally impressive, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs, helping extend the lead at key moments.

Ileana Hernandez powered up with a 3-RBI home run in the 3rd inning, adding to the Apaches' lead, and Mallory Kniffen also contributed with an RBI. Daniela Gutierrez and Piper Morton each launched home runs, with Gutierrez driving in two RBIs and Morton contributing one of her own. The Apaches displayed impressive balance, as Payton Bray and Sydney Farmer also collected hits and stole bases, keeping the pressure on the Rangers throughout the game.

On the pitching side, Sarah Philips started the game and allowed 4 runs (2 earned) over 2 innings of work, striking out 1. Cayman Lightner, who came on in relief and earned the win, tossing 3 shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit, striking out 1, and walking none. Together, the pitching staff limited Ranger College's offense and allowed TJC to take control of the game early.

Game 2: A Balanced Attack and Strong Pitching Lead to Another Win

In Game 2, TJC once again displayed their offensive depth, with 14 runs on 15 hits. Ky-Li Alonzo and Piper Morton were central to the Apaches' offensive attack, with Alonzo driving in 4 RBIs, including a double in the 7th inning that added to TJC's comfortable lead. Sydney Farmer also had a huge day at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a home run and 2 RBIs.

Daniela Gutierrez added to the offensive onslaught with a 2-run home run, while Piper Morton contributed a 3-run homer in the 7th inning to cap off a massive rally. Ileana Hernandez also chipped in with 2 hits and an RBI double, and Mallory Kniffen, Paige Schulze, and Trinity Hawkins all contributed in key moments, helping the Apaches extend their lead.

In the circle, Jaycee Bullard (1-0) earned the win with a solid 7 innings of work, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits, striking out 2 and walking 2. Bullard kept the Rangers at bay for most of the game, allowing her offense to take charge. Despite a brief scare in the 6th inning, where Ranger College pulled within one run, Bullard continued to pitch effectively and shut down any further threats.
