TJC Men's Tennis Finishes Second in NJCAA Nationals

PLANO, Texas -- The Tyler Junior College men's tennis team narrowly missed a third straight national title, finishing second at the NJCAA Division I Men's Tennis National Championship in Plano.

Tyler posted 34.5 points in the final team standings, just a half-point behind national champion Pratt Community College, which finished with 35 points.

The Apaches were led by champions in Flight 1, 2 and 6 singles. 

In Flight 1 singles, Daniel Mauricio Marincas defeated Gaspard Bicrel-Bantegny in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, to capture the individual title.

In Flight 2 singles, Willem De Waal earned the title with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Dan Hosono.

In Flight 6 singles, Toby Eyrl-Collins defeated Edward Westfall 3-6, 7-6, 6-3 to add another first-place  finish for Tyler.

In Flight 3 doubles, Ties De Regt and Ouga Miyazaki defeated Daniel Blinov and Edward Westfall 7-6, 6-2 to secure the doubles crown.
