Clements is second all time in the NJCAA in victories and has more wins than any active coach. He has won seven National Championships, six with TJC (2009,2010,2012,2014,2016,2017) and one with Meridian (Mississippi) (2000). He has led 20 teams to National tournament appearances with 10 finals and 14 Final fours. Coach Clements has led teams to 25 NJCAA Regional Championships.
He is the only coach to win a Men’s soccer National Championship with two different NJCAA division I programs and has been named National Coach of the year six times. Clements has coached 60 All Americans and numerous NJCAA All-Region selections. He has coached 18 players who are now in the NJCAA Hall of Fame, three teams who are now in the NJCAA Hall of Fame, and seven players who received NJCAA National Player of the Year. Has had over 100 players sign professional contracts including 10 drafted into the MLS. 17 have played in 1st divisions.
Clements served as the president of the National Junior College Soccer Coaches Association (2002-2014); and as National chair of United Soccer Coaches Association All American committee and is currently on the USCA Bill Jeffrey Long-Term Service Award Committee.
Awards:
- Inducted into the 2009 NJCAA Men's Soccer Hall of Fame and the 2018 Mississippi Community College Sports Hall of Fame.
- Received the USCA Certificate of Appreciation in 2015 and the USCA Letter of Commendation in 2016, for upholding the values of character through integrity and sportsmanship.
- Received the USCA Bill Jeffrey long term Service Award recognizing long term service to United Soccer Coaches and intercollegiate soccer.
- Recieved the 2017 Charlie Lee Merit Award from the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association for his team’s sportsmanship and character.
- Received the 2016 NISOD excellence Award for continually demonstrating an outstanding commitment and contribution to the students and colleagues at Tyler Junior College.
