#9 Men hold on for victory at Blinn

The #9 Apaches defeated the Blinn Bucaneers on Saturday night 3-2 in Brenham.  Tyler jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Ljubo Popovic (assist Steven Njunga), a freshman defender from Wolfurt, Austria at the 30:42 mark and sophomore forward from Eindhoven, Netherlands, Yart Van Lieshout (assist Lasse Junker)at the 20:00 minute mark of the first period.  But the Bucaneers would come back to tie the score with their own goals at 55:00 and 64:00 minute mark of the second half.  The Apaches would take the lead for good quickly on a  goal by Jack Oliver, sophomore defender from Burnley, England(assist Oscar Bech) at 66:00.  The rest of the match would be scoreless as the Apaches would hold on for the one goal victory, 3-2.  

The win was the second in two days for the men from Tyler, and it moves their season record to 3-0-2 and their conference record to 3-0-1.  Blinn falls to 3-2-2 overall and 1-1 in Region 14 play.  Next up for Tyler is a Tuesday matchup with Hill College at 5:00 pm at Pat Hartley Field on the campus of Tyler Junior College.
