TYLER, Texas - After leading the Tyler Junior College Men's Basketball program to one of its most successful seasons in recent years, head coach Mitch Marquis has been named Region 14 Coach of the Year.

Marquis guided the Apaches to a 21-11 overall record, marking the program's best finish since the 2019-20 season when Tyler posted a 25-3 mark. Along the way, the Apaches proved themselves as one of the top teams in the region, earning two Top-15 victories over Kilgore College Rangers and advancing to the Region 14 Conference Semifinals.

Offensively, Tyler Junior College was among the most dynamic teams in the country. The Apaches led the conference in scoring at 79.7 points per game and topped the league in field goal percentage at 47.5%. They also finished first in offensive efficiency in the conference and ranked ninth nationally, while placing in the Top 20 in the country in three-point percentage.

Marquis' impact extended beyond team success, as multiple players earned postseason recognition. Caden Bell and Chris Uwayo Jr. were both named First Team All-Region selections, while Josiah Hill earned Honorable Mention honors.
