Apaches Head to Baytown for Region 14 Tournament

The Tyler Junior College men's basketball team secured the No. 3 seed in the Region XIV Men's Basketball Tournament and will open tournament play at 8 p.m. Thursday in Baytown, Texas.

With the No. 3 seed, Tyler received a first-round bye and will face the winner of the opening-round game between No. 6 seed Angelina College and No. 11 seed Bossier Parish Community College.

Tyler went 2–0 against Bossier Parish during the regular season. The Apaches defeated the Cavaliers 91–71 on Jan. 7 at home before earning a 92–90 overtime win on Jan. 29 in Bossier City.

Tyler split its two meetings with Angelina. The Apaches fell 56–54 on Jan. 10 in Lufkin before winning the second matchup 59–46 on Feb. 18.

The Apaches faced both programs during last year's tournament in Baytown. Tyler defeated Bossier Parish 76–57 in the opening round before falling to Angelina 81–44 in the second round.
