Uwayo Jr. Late Basket Lifts Apaches over #17 Kilgore

TYLER, Texas – Caden Bell scored 29 and Chris Uwayo Jr. delivered the decisive moment Wednesday night, scoring on a layup with two seconds remaining to lift Tyler Junior College to a 76–74 victory over No.17 ranked Kilgore College.

The finish provided a welcome change for the Apaches, who had recently been on the wrong side of late-game Region XIV heroics against Paris Junior College and Coastal Bend College.

The Apaches improved to 10-6 on the year, and 4-4 in Region XIV play. The Rangers fell to 13-3 on the year, and 6-2 in Region XIV play.

Caden Bell led all scorers with 29 points, shooting 12-of-16 from the field and knocking down three from behind the arch to pace the Apaches. Fareed Allim added 12 points, while Josiah Hill chipped in nine points.

Tyler JC shot 54.5 percent from the floor (30-of-55) and connected on eight three-pointers, finishing with 17 assists as a team. The Apaches also forced 10 turnovers.

Next up: The Apaches will stay home to host Lee College on Saturday, January 17 in Wagstaff Gymnasium, tip-off is set for 4:00pm CST.
