Brady Davis Named Head Football Coach at Tyler Junior College

TYLER, Texas – Brady Davis, who previously served as Tyler Junior College's offensive coordinator, has been named the 11th head football coach in program history, Tyler Junior College Athletic Director Doug Wren announced Wednesday.

Apache fans, supporters, and media are invited to attend Davis introductory press conference at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, inside the Wagstaff Gymnasium in the Multi-Purpose Room. Fans unable to attend will be able to watch the live streamed event on the TJCApacheAthletics YouTube channel.

"We couldn't be more excited to announce Brady Davis as the 11th head football coach in the long history of TJC football," Tyler Junior College Athletic Director Doug Wren said. "As we went through the process, it became very apparent that Brady was the best fit to lead this team into the next era of this prestigious program. Brady is a true Apache in every sense and will represent this program, the athletic department, and the institution with great pride, integrity, and excellence. We are thrilled to keep Brady and his family here in Tyler for many years to come."

Davis has spent the past five seasons on the Tyler Junior College football staff, initially serving as an offensive assistant working with quarterbacks and tight ends in 2021 before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2022. During his tenure, he has coached multiple All-Americans and future Division I student-athletes, most notably Division I quarterback General Booty, who previously played at Oklahoma, and 2025 second-team NJCAA All-American quarterback Tre Guerra, who has committed to continue his career at Coastal Carolina.

During the 2025 season, Davis led one of the most productive offenses in the NJCAA as Tyler Junior College's offensive coordinator. TJC ranked second nationally in passing yards, fifth in total offense, fifth in passing touchdowns, eighth in scoring, and 11th in points per game, cementing one of the most successful offensive seasons in program history.

The Apaches finished the regular season 11–0 for the first time since 1960 and won the Southwest Junior College Football Conference outright for the first time since 2000. The Apaches also secured a spot in the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time in program history.

Prior to his coaching career Davis grew up in Columbus, MS. Graduating from Starkville High School in 2015. Davis was the MHSAA 6A Offensive player of the year as a SR.

In college Davis was a quarterback at both the University of Memphis and Illinois State University. During Davis' time at Illinois State he was 14-6 as the starting quarterback, won multiple Newcomer and Offensive player of the week awards and was on the MVFC All-Newcomer team in 2018. As a 2x team captain at ISU, Davis threw for just shy of 4,000 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 14 INTs. Davis spent time in off-season camp with the Dallas Cowboys. Once released, Davis decided to end his playing career and jump into the coaching ranks here at TJC.

"I am truly honored and fortunate to be named the 11th Head Football Coach at Tyler Junior College," said Davis. "The last five years at TJC have been such a blessing to me and my family. We are ecstatic to dig our heels in deeper and continue to serve this incredible campus and community."
