Tanner Jacobson Departs TJC After Historic Four-Year Tenure
The Tyler Junior College Athletic Department announces that Head Football Coach Tanner Jacobson has accepted a position at Weber State University. The department thanks Coach Jacobson for his time, dedication, and contributions to the Apache football program during his tenure.
Coach Jacobson was instrumental in the program's success both on the field and in the classroom. During his four-year tenure, he led the Apaches to an undefeated regular season, the program's first outright SWJCFC Championship in 65 years, and its first-ever appearance in the NJCAA National Playoff Tournament.
At the individual level, Coach Jacobson coached 19 All-Americans, two SWJCFC Conference MVPs, and one NJCAA Defensive Player of the Year. Academically, the football program achieved the highest team GPA in program history under his leadership.
"We're sad to see Coach Jacobson leave, but we are extremely thankful for the time he spent leading our football program," said TJC Athletic Director Doug Wren. "Tanner certainly left his mark at TJC in just four short years and will always have a special place in TJC football history. We wish him, Beth, and Halle nothing but the best as they embark on this new adventure."
A national search is underway for the program's next head football coach. Link to Job Posting
