Apache Baseball Overpower Panola Late
TYLER, Texas – Tyler Junior College used a massive seventh inning to pull away and secure a 9-5 win over Panola College in game one of a three-game conference series at Mike Carter Field on Thursday.
Locked in a tight contest through six innings, the Apaches (21-13, 8-8) broke things open in the bottom of the seventh, plating seven runs.
TJC got on the board early with single runs in the third and fourth innings, highlighted by RBI production from Davis Perkins and a strong day at the plate from Micah Roberts. Roberts led the offensive charge, finishing 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, while Landry Stamps added a pair of RBIs of his own.
Panola (20-13, 5-8) answered with a two-run fourth and added another in the fifth to briefly take a 3-2 lead, but the Apaches pitching staff settled in from there.
Out of the bullpen, Diego Estrada delivered an impressive outing, earning the win after tossing 3.2 innings and allowing just one hit while striking out four and keeping Panola off the board.
