Apaches Power Past Angelina in Series Opener

Tyler, TX- The Apache Baseball team kicked off an important conference series with a bang Wednesday, exploding for a 14-6 win over Angelina College at home. With their postseason hopes on the line, Tyler delivered a statement victory, using a seven-run swing across the 4th and 6th innings to pull away from the visiting Roadrunners.

Things didn't start smoothly for the Apaches, who fell behind 5-0 early, but they stormed back with offensive firepower and clutch relief pitching to secure the win. Brady Baker earned the win on the mound, improving to 2-0 after throwing 4.2 innings of steady relief, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out two. Landon Fuller closed it out with a scoreless 7th.

The Apache bats were red hot, collecting 16 hits and 12 RBIs. Levi Risenhoover and Finn Kaiyala both went deep, each driving in four runs. Risenhoover was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring three runs and fueling a momentum-shifting 3-run homer in the 2nd inning. Kaiyala followed up with a grand slam in the 6th to put the game out of reach.

Landry Stamps (3-for-4, RBI), Micah Roberts (2B, RBI), and Sawyer Dunagan (RBI, 2 SB) also contributed to the offensive outburst. James Raecek added a triple and an RBI, while Zack Zavala swiped a bag and scored twice.

Despite a few defensive miscues, the Apaches stayed focused and turned a key double play late to help seal the win.

Next Up: Road Doubleheader in Lufkin

With the victory, Tyler improves their conference record and sits 5th in the Region 14 North standings—just outside the top four needed to qualify for the postseason tournament. Every win matters down the stretch, and the Apaches will look to climb the standings when they travel to Lufkin this Saturday for a pivotal doubleheader against Angelina College, starting at 1 PM.

The race is on for Region 14—don't count the Apaches out just yet.
