Bio

Eddy McGuire is the Head Athletic Trainer at Tyler Junior College (TJC), a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), a position he has held since 2003. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and his master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Before joining the TJC athletic department, Eddy spent ten years as the head athletic trainer at various high schools across Texas. At TJC, he oversees the Athletic Training Program, managing a team that includes four staff athletic trainers and up to 20 students. He provides and supervises the care and treatment of athletes across twelve sports teams. Many of his former staff members and students have gone on to work in athletic training at prestigious organizations including the MLB, MLS, NBA, NCAA Division I-III, NJCAA, high schools, and the U.S. military.

Throughout his career, Eddy has earned several prestigious awards, including induction into the East Texas Athletic Training Association (ETATA) Hall of Honor, NJCAA Athletic Trainer of the Year, and the East Texas Sandy Miller Award. He has also served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Basketball Team and the NJCAA National Baseball Team. Eddy has been the Sports Medicine Director for major events such as the State 7-on-7 Championships, the Texas Grand Slam Tennis Tournament, and numerous NJCAA Regional and National Championship Tournaments.

Eddy and his wife, Shelley, have two children, Morgan and Mason.
