Apache Programs, Student-Athletes Earn Academic Awards

On Thursday, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced the recipients of Academic All-American and Academic Team of the Year honors. Apache Athletics had nine athletic programs and 44 individual student-athletes receive recognition for their academic success in the classroom.

Of the nine athletic programs that received Academic Team of the Year honors (3.0 GPA or higher), Apache Men's Tennis led the way with an impressive 3.61 cumulative GPA as a team. Not far behind were their counterparts on the women's side as the Apache Women's Tennis program had a cumulative 3.45 team GPA.

Apache Athletics had 10 First-Team All-Academic members (4.0 GPA), 12 Second-Team All-Academic members (3.80-3.99 GPA), and 22 Third-Team All-Academic members (3.60-3.79 GPA). As a whole the Tyler Junior College athletic department and their student-athletes had a 3.16 overall GPA across 12 athletic programs for the 2024-2025 academic year. 162 student-athletes maintained above a 3.0 GPA for the entire academic year with 44 student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.0 Spring semester GPA.

Tyler Junior College takes immense pride and satisfaction in the academic accomplishments of its student-athletes. The honors received are a testament to the hard work, dedication and focus of each program, along with the support of coaches, faculty and staff. Apache Athletics remains committed to the development of well-round individuals who excel in every aspect of their collegiate experience.
