Saturday's men's and women's tennis matches versus Incarnate Word College have been moved back one hour to 10am.  Matches will be played at the Medlock Tennis Center and the Brookshire Family Courts located on the TJC campus.

The TJC women's doubles team of Kerrie Cartwright and Audrey Leitz fell this morning in the first round of the prestigious ITA Indoor National Championships to Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria of the University of Southern California 8-4.  Cartwright and Leitz qualified for the tournament by winning the USTA/ITA National Small College Super Bowl in October.

Kimm Ketelsen, a two-time NAIA tennis All-American in the early 1970s, has once again reached the pinnacle of his sport at age 61.
 

Ketelsen, the Tyler Junior College assistant tennis coach, is the Men's 55-and-over Player of the Year in the United States Professional Tennis Association - the world's oldest and largest organization of tennis-teaching professionals.

TJC's Kerrie Cartwright and Audrey Leitz won the doubles championship at the at the 2011 USTA/ITA National Small College Championships at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama. Their win marks the first time a women's JUCO representative has won the Super Bowl since 1997, when McLennan Community College's Tagifano Soonalole claimed the women's singles crown.  The Super Bowl champions will now move on to the 2011 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, which will take place November 3-6 at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.  In singles action, Kerrie Cartwright fell in the finals.

The TJC Women's doubles team of Kerrie Cartwright and Audrey Leitz are the ITA junior college National Champions.  They defeated Davitia and Biro (Crowley College) 6-4,7-5.  They will next compete in the ITA Super Bowl, which matches the winners of the junior college, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA winners.  Their match is tomorrow at 3pm.

Day one is in the books at the 2011 USTA/ITA National Small College Championships at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., and a women's doubles team from TJC will play in the finals.  The top-seeded team of Diana Davitaia and Zsofia Biro of Cowley will meet No. 3 seeds Kerrie Cartwright and Audrey Leitz of Tyler in the divisional championship match.
