The weeklong NJCAA Division I tournament wasn't decided until late Friday night on indoor courts at Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson.

BAYTOWN -- Tyler Junior College opened the Region XIV tennis tournament with a pair of lopsided victories over Laredo at Lee College.

The Apache Ladies (23-2) won 9-0, and the TJC men (14-4) prevailed 7-2.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Tyler Junior College Apaches are playing their best tennis of the season, said TJC coach John Peterson.

Minus its top two players, TJC still managed to impressively roll past Seminole (Okla.), 7-2, on Saturday and Cowley County (Kan.), 6-3, on Friday.
