NORMAN, Okla. - DePaul (Division I), Maryville (Division II), Carnegie Mellon (Division III), Ohio Dominican (NAIA), Frank Phillips (NJCAA DI) and South Mountain (NJCAA DII) have been named Academic National Champions for their respective divisions announced the GCAA. DePaul posted the highest recorded team GPA with 3.66. A total of 113 teams submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher and earned All-Academic Team recognition.

The Tyler Junior College men's golf team shot its second 299 of the Division II national tournament on Thursday to leave the Apaches 35 strokes out of first place in Goodyear, Ariz.

South Mountain (Ariz.) is the only team under par entering today's final round. The Cougars fired their second consecutive 286 to take a four-shot lead over Mesa (Ariz.).

The Tyler Junior College men's golf team lost ground Wednesday at the NJCAA Division II Championship in Goodyear, Ariz. The Apaches shot 298 at Palm Valley Golf Club and are 28 shots out of the lead at the midway point.

Nate Anderson (71-77), James Glenn (74-74) and Stefan Labuschagne (77-71) are tied for 22nd individually, while the Apaches are in eighth place out of 21 teams. Chris George contributed a 76 to the Apaches' second-round score and is tied for 56th overall. Sebastian Starud had a 79 for TJC's highest score.

The Tyler Junior College Apaches opened the NJCAA Division II Golf Championship with a disappointing 299 Tuesday at Palm Valley Golf Club outside Phoenix, Ariz.

TJC head coach Sandy Terry called it a "poor day" for the Apaches as a team. Their five players combined to shoot 20 over par on four holes (6, 7, 8 and 18). They also recorded a triple bogey.

Linked together in so many ways, Tyler Junior College golfers James Glenn and Stefan Labuschagne must have been destined to become teammates.

Most recently, the sophomores followed each other on consecutive days with 65s at the regional tournament -- the low round of the season for both.
