FAYETTEVILLE - Don "Ike" Forte came to Arkansas from Tyler Junior College, heralded by the Arkansas Traveler in April of 1974 as "God's gift to the '74 Razorbacks." The junior college All-American didn't disappoint. Forte was Arkansas' leading rusher in his junior and senior years, notching All-Southwest Conference honors in back-to-back seasons.

In his time at Lufkin, Alex Rodriguez racked up a collection of honors that included a district MVP, a school record for goals in a season and four all-district selections.

When he continued his playing career at Tyler Junior College, he knew it wouldn't be easy to top those accomplishments. But at the conclusion of his sophomore year, Rodriguez accomplished his biggest soccer achievement yet - a national title.

CLEVELAND - The National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) announced the winners of the 2009-10 NATYCAA Cup at its Convention in Anaheim, Calif. last week. Iowa Central CC captured the scholarship college division with 158.5 points, Gloucester CC won the non-scholarship division with 131.0 points and Orange Coast won the state associations division with 167.0 points. Tyler Junior College finished in a tie for fourth place.

2009-10 NJCAA Academic Awards Announced

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The NJCAA National Office in Colorado Springs, Colo., is pleased to release the names of the 2009-2010 NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American and Academic All-American awards as well as the 2010 Spring All-Academic Teams. This year over 1,300 NJCAA student-athletes met the requirements for the individual academic honors while over 340 teams qualified for academic team accolades.
