For the fourth consecutive year, college and high school players flashing serious leather will be awarded Rawlings Gold Glove Awards as Rawlings celebrates its 53^rd year of the Rawlings Gold Glove Award®.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 7, 2010) -- The 2010 NJCAA Baseball All-American teams for each of the three divisions of play have been selected and released. For the second straight year over 10,000 student-athletes suited up to play NJCAA baseball this season, which is the most athletes to participate in any NJCAA sport for the 2009-10 academic year. 

Of the 10,000 student-athletes that suited up this year in the sport of baseball in Divisions I, II and III, only 126 earned NJCAA All-America honors.

Top-ranked Gloucester County College recovered from a late meltdown to beat the No. 2 Apaches, 5-4, in 10 innings Wednesday night in the final game of the NJCAA Division III Baseball World Series at Mike Carter Field.

In a game reminiscent of TJC's dramatic comeback win against Joliet (Ill.) in 2007, the Apaches scored twice in the eighth inning and beat Herkimer (N.Y.), 9-8, Tuesday night to advance to the championship round of the NJCAA Division III World Series.

Down to their last four outs, the Apaches took the lead on Thomas Dougherty's two-out, two-RBI single just beyond the diving second baseman. Dougherty, who entered the tournament batting .274, went 4 for 5 with six RBIs from the No. 9 spot in the order.

"He has been squaring the ball up really well this whole tournament," TJC head coach Doug Wren said. "Even coming into the tournament he was hitting the ball hard."

Max Freeman ignited the rally with his second hit of the game. Herkimer's Andy Eggleston (3-4) struck out the next batter for the second out before issuing back-to-back walks to set up Dougherty's heroics.

What came next was a false sense of security - followed by great disappointment - and then a transfer to Tyler Junior College.

After Miller threw four scoreless innings against Cedar Valley in the District C championship game, TJC head coach Doug Wren offered the highest praise.
