In his time at Lufkin, Alex Rodriguez racked up a collection of honors that included a district MVP, a school record for goals in a season and four all-district selections.

When he continued his playing career at Tyler Junior College, he knew it wouldn't be easy to top those accomplishments. But at the conclusion of his sophomore year, Rodriguez accomplished his biggest soccer achievement yet - a national title.

Swallows confirm Da Costa signing

Moroka Swallows have made their first new signing ahead of 2010/11 season after securing the services of South African-born defender Roger da Costa.

The final two days of the TJC spring soccer camp, scheduled for Thursday and Friday,  have been moved to next Monday and Tuesday due to weather.  Potential campers who did not sign up or attend the last two days can sign up for a special two day rate and come on Monday and Tuesday.  Campers can pay $35 and get two days of camp and a camp t-shirt.  Call the TJC West Campus at 903-510-2900 to register.   The camp meets at Pat Hartley Field and is from 4:30pm to 6:30pm each day.

The Tyler Junior College soccer program, which produced two national champions last season, has been rewarded with several individual honors.

The men's team has three first-team All-Americans while the women's team has one.

The TJC Men's and Women's Soccer Teams were well represented on the NJCAA All-American lists, as four Apaches were named to the squads, including three First Team selections.  Sophomore Cara Newton was named to the first team on the women's side, while Sophomores Shaunovan Wilson and Kenny Manna were first team selections on the men's side.  Sophomore Juan Robles was named to the second team.
