MCKINNEY - Tyler Junior College head coach Jon Groth refused to second-guess the decision to start Braeden Lawhon on the mound Sunday.

Lawhon, who came in with three starts and 30 conference innings, recorded only two outs in the first as Richland scored five runs on its way to a 12-3 win that sent the Thunderducks to the NJCAA Division III World Series.

TJC defeated Eastfield College today in the NJCAA District C Tournament in McKinney today 11-5, eliminating Eastfield from the tournament and sending the Apaches to the championship round versus Richland. The Apaches must beat Richland twice tomorrow to advance to the World Series.

Apaches Stay Alive With 14-1 Win Over North Arkansas

The TJC Apache Baseball Team defeated #1 ranked North Arkansas today 14-1 in a game shortened to 5 innings to the Run Rule. Sophomore Blake Worthen threw a one hitter in a game that lasted only one hour and sixteen minutes. The Apaches next take the field tonight at 6pm in another elimination game versus the loser of the Eastfield and Richland game, which starts at 3pm.

MCKINNEY - Last year's District C Tournament was a cakewalk compared to this.

Defending champion Tyler Junior College lost a one-run lead in the ninth, and Eastfield scored on a steal of home and a three-run homer to stun the Apaches, 8-4, Friday night in an opening-round game at Gabe Nesbitt Field.
