Ronda Shirley Image
Ronda Shirley - Head Coach - 1st Season
Ronda Shirley assumed her duties at the head volleyball coach at TJC on July 1, 2010.  She becomes the second volleyball coach in TJC history, succeeding Coach Dana Hatch.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Shirley to our TJC family," said Dr. Tim Drain, TJC director of intercollegiate athletics. "She comes from a well-respected school and program, and has had tremendous success on and off the court. Dana Hatch has left the program in great shape, and I know Ronda will come in and do a great job."

As head coach at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College for 13 seasons, Ronda Shirley had a 346-158 record and guided the HCC volleyball team to five Region VI championships, five national tournament placings and four Jayhawk West Championships in the last six seasons.

Her teams have produced nine NJCAA All-Americans, 27 All-Region VI players, two Jayhawk West Freshman of the Year winners and HCC's first Jayhawk West Player of the Year.

She was the HCC all-time leader in coaching victories and won her 250th match at Hutchinson on Oct. 25, 2006. Her .681 winning percentage was also No. 1 in program history. Since 2001, Hutchinson has had more victories (306) than any Jayhawk Conference Western Division program.

A native of Earling, Iowa, she graduated from Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kan., in 1992, and graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Ky., in 1995. She and her husband, Jeff, have six children.
