The Tyler Junior College men's golf team shot its second 299 of the Division II national tournament on Thursday to leave the Apaches 35 strokes out of first place in Goodyear, Ariz.
South Mountain (Ariz.) is the only team under par entering today's final round. The Cougars fired their second consecutive 286 to take a four-shot lead over Mesa (Ariz.).
Meanwhile, the rain-shortened women's national tournament finished up in Daytona Beach, Fla., with the Apache Ladies eighth out of 17 teams.
The host team, Daytona State, won the national title by 60 strokes over runner-up McLennan.
Jacki Marshall, a freshman from Australia, led TJC with an 11th-place finish. She had her best round Thursday with a 2-over 74.
