GRANBURY -- Tyler Junior College closed in on champion McLennan before settling for a second-place tie in the Harbor Lakes Invitational golf tournament on Tuesday.
The Division II Apaches matched Western Texas both days for a 603 (302-301), while Division I McLennan won with a 602 after finishing with a 304.
TJC's Region XIV competition -- Lon Morris and Paris -- finished 12th and 14th, respectively. Lon Morris shot a final-round 313 for a 631 while Paris totaled a 644.
Nate Anderson, a freshman from Duluth, Minn., paced the Apaches with a tie for eighth at 149 (74-75) at the par-72 Harbor Lakes Golf Club.
McLennan, the defending Division I national champion, filled the top two slots with Nathan Anderson (70-71 -- 141) and Juan Salcedo (71-76 -- 147). Nathan Anderson is a freshman from Burleson.
TJC freshman Sebastian Starud (74-78) tied sophomore teammate Stefan Labuschagne (75-77) for 21st at 152, while sophomore James Glenn (80-73) tied for 27th at 153.
Chris George, a TJC freshman from Australia, tied for 36th at 155 (79-76). Vincent Anagnos was 44th at 156 (74-82) for the Apaches.
