LAS CRUCES, N.M.-New Mexico State soccer head coach Michael Needham has signed forward Cassandra Branch to a National Letter of Intent, Tuesday, Feb. 9. 

 

The 2010 class now consists of nine athletes with Branch including midfielder/forward Dani DeLaVina, midfielder Daisy Hernandez, defender Mary Kate Koziol, forward/midfielder Kristen Powers, midfielder/defender Olivia Sierra, midfielder Megan Thompson, defender Amber Vega and goalkeeper Erin Wosick.

 

Branch joins the Aggies from Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas. She is a native of Mississauga, Canada. Branch played two seasons with the Apaches. She led TJC to the NJCAA Division I National Championship, and she was named to the NJCAA Division I National All-Tournament Team after recording an assist in the title match in 2009. Branch scored 21 goals and had 10 assists in her two seasons at TJC. In 2008 and 2009, she earned all-region accolades, and she was nominated for NJCAA All-America honors. At St. Joseph, Branch was named the team's most valuable player in 2008.

 

"Cass is an extremely fast wide player, she will strike fear into opposing defenses," Needham said. "She has been a part of a National Championship Program at Tyler Junior College so she loves to compete and absolutely hates to lose, these traits alone will add another dimension to the Aggie Attack."
