The TJC men's golf team finished tied for 5th place at the 2009 NJCAA Division II National Tournament. The tournament needed more than 72 holes to decided the individual champions. Three players tied after 72 holes at -5.
David Griffin of Rend Lake (IL) College (71 on Friday), Jin Chung (69) of Darton (GA) College and Brian Affleck (73) of Potomac (WV) State College teed off of hole number one. Chung and Griffin pared the hole, while Affleck bogey the hole to finish third. On the second hole, Chung bogey the hole and Griffin sunk at five foot par putt to become the Medalist of the 2009 NJCAA Division II National Golf Tournament.
On the team side, John A. Logan came in to third, seven stroke behind South Mountain and six behind Darton (GA) College. When the day was over John A. Logan posted a 286 to win the tournament by three shots over Darton College and 12 over South Mountain CC. The title was the first for John A. Logan coach Tom Ferris who was named Coach of the Year.
