Tyler Junior College wrapped up its home tennis schedule with a pair of 6-3 victories over Collin County on Tuesday at the JoAnn Medlock Murphy Tennis Center.
Both teams were up 4-2 entering doubles play. The Apache Ladies (21-5) took wins at Nos. 1 (Iris Rendon), 3 (Sureena Weir), 4 (Hagar Caro) and 6 (Madelyn Lumpkin). Weir's 6-3,6-4 victory put the Apache Ladies up 4-2. Lumpkin rallied after losing the first set.
Rendon and Anna Zurek won at No. 1 dounles, while Caro-Weir prevailed at No. 2, 8-3, after losing 8-1 to the same team last week at the SW Juco Tournament.
The TJC men (17-2) won singles matches at Nos. 2 (Dominic McLuskey), 3 (J.J. Haley), 5 (Mwalimu Phiri) and 6 (Paolo Roessle).
Haley, a sophomore from San Antonio, won a three-set match to put the Apaches up 4-2.
The Apache won the doubles at flights 1 and 3 with McLuskey-Roman Petrunin and Phiri-Roessle.
Both teams will compete in the Region XIV Tournament at Laredo beginning Thursday.
