Coach Groth on Game 1:
"... Chase Daniel's 2 run homer gave us a one run lead into the bottom of the 7th, but they countered with a game tying HR of their own and we couldn't quite muster any more runs and they scratched for a sac fly in the extra inning for the win ..."
"...offensively, we outhit them, but they seemed to get some key hits and HR's when they needed them...each time we came back on them, they answered with some runs of their own...we competed well....we pitched well, the fences are short, and the wind was flying straight out to CF today, so many of the HR's were routine outs on a normal day at a regular sized college field...they were able to take advantage of those conditions more than we were....I was still pleased with outings by Banks, Parsell, and Immel ..."

Coach Groth on Game 2:
"... game 2 was different in that they had a pitcher that transferred from San Diego State throwing hard with challenging sliders and we finally got to him late in the game...I was proud of our guys as we fought back from being behind again...but like in game 1, they were able to answer with 3 runs in the 5th, countering our 3 in the top...we came back again off some good pitching and tied it, but Eramo got one up in the wind and it carried out of the park for a walk off HR ...."
"...we saw some more positives from game two pitchers, Zielinski, Grimes and Parsell, who threw well in short outings in both games...."
"...it's tough to lose two games in walk off fashion, but they have 24 full scholarships in their dugout, and for us to play like we did today, was impressive...they played most of their conference starters and we had a chance to win both games but they played just a little bit better when they had to, to get 2 wins...it is frustrating to have so many routine fly balls leave the yard, but both teams had the conditions to deal with, they were just able to take advantage more than we were...They're leading their conference ahead of perrenial power San Jacinto, and last year's World Series team, Alvin, so this team is a solid NJCAA Div I club, and we gave them everything they wanted and more...these were good games to build from, despite the fact that they were two close losses...we competed very well against a very good team on the road
..."
Coach Groth on Apaches Start:
"...We look forward to continuing MAC play on the road this weekend against Brookhaven...we'll need to play well on the road in this 2nd half to stay on top of the MAC...most of our remaining MAC games (12 out of 15) are away from Mike Carter Field...."
