PASADENA -- Brent Barz made a layup with 20 seconds left as Tyler Junior College rallied to beat San Jacinto, 64-63, Saturday for the Apaches' first win at Anders Gym in 13 seasons.

The No. 16 Apaches (15-1), who lead the Region XIV North Zone at 6-1, erased a 14-point deficit in the second half by taking a 54-52 lead with 3:58 left.

Barz, playing with four fouls, led the Apaches with 19 points. Ten different players scored for TJC, which once again took advantage of its depth.
"We're just proud of our team," said TJC head coach Mike Marquis. "We fought through our own adversity by missing a lot of free throws and layups in the first half. San Jac was very physical around the basket.

"We played solid defense and in the second half we were able to get in more of a rhythm."

San Jacinto (11-7, 3-4), which won 101 straight home games from 1982-89, has already lost three conference home games this season.
