HUNTSVILLE -- The Tyler Junior College men's golf team finished sixth at the Sam Houston State University Invitational at Elkin's Lake Country Club on Tuesday, shooting 17 over in three rounds.
Sam Houston used its home course advantage to earn a one stroke victory at 15 under (285-281-283 -- 849), one stroke ahead of Stephen F. Austin's 14 under (279-284-287 -- 850).

TJC (301-288-292 -- 881) finished one stroke behind Texas-Pan American. The Apaches were led by Cody Blankenship who shot 1 under (73-70-72 -- 215), good for a tie for 11th place individually.
Anthony Michael of Oklahoma City University took home top individual honors shooting the best round of the day Tuesday to finish at 11 under (66-72-67 -- 205).

Michael finished three strokes ahead of Oklahoma Christian University's Oscar Stark, who placed second (68-72-68 -- 208).

Kyle Robbins of SFA finished at 6 under for third place (69-72-68 -- 210). TJC's James Glenn earned a 25th place finish (76-74-71 -- 221) and Blaine Weiterman finished 30th (73-73-76 -- 222). Also competing for TJC were Cody Bass (227) and Stefan Labuschagne (231).

Oklahoma City finished third in the team event at 10 under. Oklahoma Christian was fourth, and the last team to shoot under par at 5 under.
