The TJC Apaches had 7 players mentioned on the ALL MAC team released today. The Apaches had 2 first team selections in sophomore pitchers, Michael LaCourse (8-4, 1 save, 3.29 era, 65.2 ip, 53 K, .218 BAA, 17 app ) and Matt Kinard (5-0, 3.65 era, 66.1 ip, 43 K, 24 BB, 12 app).

"...I was proud to see both Michael and Matt selected as first team All MAC..."

"...Michael LaCourse started the first half our season, when we needed him to start, and he went to the bullpen when we needed him to go the bullpen...the fact that he was voted first team says a lot for the respect he earned from the coaches in this conference...."

"...Matt Kinard had a solid year in establishing himself as our Friday starter and it was nice to see him recognized in this way..."

TJC also had five players recognized as ALL MAC honorable mention. They were:

Soph SS Davis Page (.319, 6-2B, 1-3B, 1-HR, 28 rbi)

Fresh 3B Jordan Vierra (.389, 11-2B, 2-3B, 3-HR, 38 rbi)

Fresh OF Colby Welsh (.398, 18-2B, 2-3B, 5-HR, 47 rbi)

Soph C Mike McCollum (.361, 13-2B, 2-HR, 44 rbi)

The Apaches travel to McKinney, Texas this weekend to defend their NJCAA District C title and an opportunity to come back to Tyler for the 2008 NJCAA Div III World Series. The opening round is against MAC foe, #7 Eastfield College. The other two teams in the NJCAA District C tourney are #1 North Arkansas and #6 Richland College.
