he No. 3-ranked Tyler Junior College baseball team split a doubleheader with The Complete Showcase-Post Grad team on Friday at Mike Carter Field.

TCS won the first game 8-2 with the Apaches taking Game 2, 7-2.

TJC (26-14) returns to play for a four-game series against Coastal Bend April 20-22 at Mike Carter.


Demetrius Young, Connor Duer and Joshua Walker all hit home runs to pace TCS, which is based in McKinney.

Walker had three hits, which also included a double and two RBIs. Justin Fragale added two hits with Dylan Tackman contributing one. Young had two RBIs with Tackman and Caden Rosholt adding one each.

Eric Bullock led the Apaches with two hits, including a double. Taylor Broadway and Jordan Trahan had doubles with Braden Wise and Chase Evans adding singles. Wise and Matt Mikusek had RBIs.

Payton Adams took the loss for TJC with Austin Seidel getting the win, going seven innings while striking out eight.


TJC broke open the second game with five runs in the eighth inning.

Colton Whitehouse led the Apaches with two hits and two RBIs. Others with hits were Wise, Blaze Beason and Jarrod Wells. TJC players with RBIs were Wise, Broadway, Evans, Beason, Wells and Tyler Abney.

James Kuykendall pitched five innings for TJC, leaving with game tied 1-1. He three hits while striking out seven and not walking a batter.

Mason Whitmarsh (4-2) hurled the final four innings to get the win. He allowed four hits while striking out five and walking one.

Kyle Harris and Walker had two hits each (double and single) for TCS, while Oscar Martinez added a solo home run and Tackman contributed a two-bagger. Rosholt had a single and Ramon Vingochea had an RBI.
