KILGORE - Tyler Junior College pitchers limited Kilgore College to one run in a Region XIV softball doubleheader sweep on Friday at The Ballpark at KC Commons. TJC won 3-1 and 14-0.

The Apache Ladies (40-13) continue to lead Region XIV East Zone with a 19-3 record. TJC's next scheduled DH is on Wednesday against Angelina College at Schwab Field on The Brook Hill School campus in Bullard. The first game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

The Lady Rangers (28-20, 16-8) play Trinity Valley in Athens on Wednesday with the first game set for 1 p.m.


Kelly Mardones (24-3), who signed with Austin Peay State University on Thursday, limited KC to one run while striking out seven.

The game was scoreless until the fifth when the Apache Ladies plated three runs and Kilgore got their run in the bottom of the inning. Brianna Paysinger and Shelbi Court led TJC with two hits each, while Rebecca Snow, Haille Weber, Kaycie Moore and McKenzie Peet all added singles.

Driving in runs were Weber, Court and Moore.

Jo Rivera led the Lady Rangers with three hits and an RBI. Katilyn Stebelton, Taylor Christopher, Shelby Edwards, Manda Wilmoth, Briana Davis and Cailon Palmer all had singles.


The TJC bats awoke in the second game, blasting 13 hits with Snow belting a home run and a triple. Other extra base hits were from Paysinger (3B), Peet (2 doubles), Court (2B) and Moore (2B).

Snow had three hits and four RBIs with Peet adding two hits and three RBIs. Shelby Hotchkiss had a single and three RBIs. Paysinger and Moore each had two hits with Weber and Makenzie Chatham adding one apiece.

Julia Knight (10-4) and Amber Loehr were in the circle, allowing three hits in the shutout.

Knight pitched four innings, giving up three hits and walking one. Loehr finished up the final inning, striking out one and walking one.

Stebelton had two hits for KC with Christopher adding one.
