LONGVIEW - The No. 9 Tyler Junior College Apache Ladies stepped out of conference play on Monday to sweep a softball doubleheader with LeTourneau University.
TJC (33-12) won 14-2 and 14-3 (five innings).
In the first game, Kelly Mardones and Tucker Caraway combined on a one-hitter. Mardones struck out seven and did not allow a hit while hurling four innings. Caraway pitched two innings and struck out a batter.
Rebecca Snow was 3 for 4 with three RBIs, while Moore was 3 for 4 with two RBIs.
Paysinger, Court, Makenzie Chatham and Hotchkiss all had two hits. Makenzie Goswick, Loehr and Caraway each had a hit. Paysinger, Loehr and Hotchkiss all had two RBIs. Goswick and Chatham added an RBI apiece.
Shelby Youngblood had the hit for the Lady Jackets.
In Game 2, Julia Knight and Caraway shared the circle and pitched a six-hitter.
Knight pitched four innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out three. Caraway hurled one innings, allowing two hits and an earned run.
Court belted a home run for TJC with Chatham adding a triple in the 16-hit attack. Chatham and Court both had doubles as did Nadeah Jimenez, Hotchkiss and Snow. Moore had two two-baggers.
Court had three hits and four RBIs. Moore and Chatham each had three hits with Goswick adding two. Paysinger, Snow, Jimenez, Mckenzie Peet and Hotchkiss had one hit apiece.
Snow, Chatham and Hotchkiss each had two RBIs with Jimenez, Moore and Peet adding one apiece.
Youngblood had a home run for the Lady Jackets with Jess Heintz adding a double. Alyssa Pierce and Youngblood each had two hits with Shelby Barrick and Heintz contributing one each. Madison Gray, Heintz and Youngblood had RBIs.
The Apache Ladies return to Region XIV play on Wednesday, traveling to Bossier City, Louisiana for a key DH with Bossier Parish Community College. The first game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
TJC and BPCC are tied for the lead in the East Zone at 12-2.
TJC returns for a home date on Saturday against Paris Junior College at The Brook Hill School's Schwab Field in Bullard. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m.
