PLANO - Tyler Junior College is second after Day 4 of the NJCAA Men's National Tennis Tournament at Collin County Community College.
 

Laredo leads with 40 points, followed by TJC (37), Collin (35), Vincennes (Ind.) (35) and Georgia Perimeter (34).

 
Today is the final round of the tournament.
 

TJC has finalists in singles in Flight 3 (Tassilo Schmid), Flight 5 (Javier Perez) and Flight 6 (Jacob Rother).

The Apaches doubles team of Rother and Luis Vivas are in the Flight 3 finals.
 
TJC must hope to win all four of its matches, while hoping Laredo loses all six of its matches.
 
Laredo has finalists in singles in Flight 1 (Jair Assuncao), Flight 2 (Bruno Kliskinic), Flight 4 (Leonardo Ivic) and Flight 5 (Caio Gomes).
 

In doubles, Laredo has finalists in Flight 1 (Jeremie Castela-Kliskinic) and Flight 3 (Assuncao-Luis Hernandez).

Schmid, the No. 4 seed, upset No. 1 seed Castela in the Flight 3 semifinals on Thursday. 6-2, 7-6 (1). He will face No. 3 seed Donovan McSeveney of Collin in the championship at 8 a.m. today.
 
It will be a head-to-head matchup as TJC's Perez, the No. 3 seed, meets No. 1 seed Gomes in Flight 5 at 8 a.m. today. Perez upset No. 2 seed Ed Spilman of Vincennes 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals.
 

In Flight 6, Rother, the No. 3 seed, will face No. 2 seed David White of Vincennes in the final, also at 8 a.m.

Rother upset No. 1 seed Gelawdiyos Haile of Georgia Perimeter, 6-0, 2-0 (retired due to injury) in the semifinals.
 
Rother will also team with Vivas for another chance at a national title in Flight 3. It is another head-to-head battle with Laredo's Assuncao and Hernandez. The match is scheduled for 11 a.m.
 
Rother and Vivas, the tops seeds, defeated No. 4-seeded Nei Dos Santos and John Ward of Cowley County (Kan.) 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals.
 
In Flight 1 doubles, TJC's Matt Campbell and Vasili Caripi, the No. 3 seeds, fell to the Laredo No. 2 seeded team of Castela-Kliskinic 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals.
 

Caripi, the No. 4 seed, also fell in the Flight 4 singles semifinals to No. 1 seed Ivic, 6-0, 6-1.
