The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and it National Advisory Board (NAB) recognized the 2010-2011 Tyler Junior College Men's Golf Team as one of their outstanding academic golf programs in America for the 2010-2011 school year.
The GCAA established their All-Academic Team Awards in January 2009. The purpose was to recognize those outstanding golf programs that compile a team grade-point avaerage of 3.0 and higher or the equivalent. Additionally, teams with a GPA of 3.5 or higher receive the President's Special Recognition Award. Finally, the team in each Division with the highest GPA is recognized as Academic National Champions.
For the 2010-11 season, 106 golf programs from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA were recognized by the association for this award. College golf coaches have traditionally set high academic standards for their student-athletes. The GCAA is extremely proud of the academic achievements demonstrated by its student-athletes during the past 50 years and are proud to recognize those teams and individuals that have excelled in the classroom.
