The Tyler Junior College volleyball team split two matches Saturday during the Coach Dana Hatch Invitational at the Ornelas HPE Center.

TJC began the day with a 3-0 win over Richland College. The Apache Ladies won Game 1, 20-16, and Game 2 was tied 20-20 before TJC took the last five points to win 25-20. TJC cruised 25-14 in the third game.
In the afternoon matchup, TJC took on Redlands College (Okla.) and split the first two games. TJC won Game 1, 25-18, and Redlands rallied to take the second set, 25-19.

In Game 3, TJC jumped out to a 14-8 lead before Redlands rallied to lead 19-15. TJC countered with a run to tie it at 19-19. Tied at 25-25, Redlands captured two points in a row to win 27-25.

The fourth game started in a similar fashion, with TJC jumping out to a 14-8 lead. This time, the Apache Ladies held on and won 25-18.

Redlands got out to a quick lead in the fifth set, winning the first seven points until TJC got on the board. The Redlands cruised to a 15-8 victory.

TJC finished the inaugural Dana Hatch tournament with a 3-1 record. After the game, the team presented Coach Hatch with roses and a volleyball autographed by the team.
