2009-10 NJCAA Academic Awards Announced

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The NJCAA National Office in Colorado Springs, Colo., is pleased to release the names of the 2009-2010 NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American and Academic All-American awards as well as the 2010 Spring All-Academic Teams. This year over 1,300 NJCAA student-athletes met the requirements for the individual academic honors while over 340 teams qualified for academic team accolades.

Casey Bulls, Women's Tennis, Academic All-American
Alexis Byerly, Women's Golf, Distinguished Academic All-American
Libby Dyson, Volleyball, Academic All-American
Kyle Ford, Men's Basketball, Distinguished Academic All-American
Max Freeman, Baseball, Academic All-American
James Glenn, Men's Golf, Academic All-American
Jared Johnson, Men's Golf, Academic All-American
Garrett Roget, Football, Academic All-American
 
NJCAA ACADEMIC AWARDS CRITERIA
NJCAA Individual Academic All-American Awards
Academic All-American nominees must meet each of the following criteria:
  • 1. Must be submitted directly to the National Office by the Athletic Director using the form provided by the NJCAA.
  • 2. Must have completed three full-time semesters or four full-time quarters of college work.
  • 3. Must have participated in at least one season at the varsity level at the college from which he/she is nominated.
  • 4. Nomination must be made during academic year in which participation occurred.
  • 5. Following grade point averages must be met:
  • a. 3.80 or better on a 4.00 scale for 60 quarter hours or 45 semester hours for Distinguished Academic All-American.
  • b. 3.60 to 3.79 on a 4.00 scale for 60 quarter hours or 45 semester hours for Academic All-American.
  • 6. When computing the final grade point average, all course hours attempted must be included with the exception of remedial/development course work, which cannot be used to meet the requirements for this award.
  • 7. Deadline date for all sports to the National Office: JUNE 15
  • 8. All nominees meeting the minimum requirements will be named Academic All-Americans or Distinguished Academic All-Americans.
